Lee fished pole and caster at 13m on the deck and up in the water, after slow first hour the roach moved in and it was a fish every put weighing an impressive all roach net with his biggest fish being just 12oz. 2nd placed John Holmes fished pole and pellet and when the skimmers moved over his feed it was a bit every put in from bream – 1.1/2lb.

The start of the match was delayed for ½ an hour to clear the ice but it didn’t disturb the fish in Mick’s swim having six carp on pole and corn at 16m fished up to the island on his first 6 puts in, these were followed by 9 more – 5lb and 10 roach - 1lb on the maggot weighing in a total of 35lb 4oz, twice has many than 2nd placed Steve Skinner, he fished straight lead and corn cast to the old lily pads having 4 bites and 4 carp – 7lb.

It was a very cold start to the match with ice in the margins but when the wind got up, it got even colder making it a struggle to catch. Gateford Angling boss Geoff and team mate Bernard were the only two to catch carp (all the other weights were made up of roach and perch ) both having 6 carp each with Geoff’s biggest carp going 6lb all caught on a small pellet feeder and corn cast to the old lily beds, Bernard’s biggest fish was 3lb and caught on the straight lead and corn cast to the small island.

Dave was the only angler to catch any carp, he cast a small pellet feeder and corn hook bait to the overhanging willow tree on the far bank he had 5 bites and 5 carp the biggest making up the bulk of his weight, weighing in at 7lb 8oz.
2nd place went to Mick Langton weighing in an all roach net with fish – 12oz, fishing the pole and maggot at 11m.
3rd placed John Darby also fished pole and maggot and had a bonus 5lb bream in his otherwise all roach net

Dave fished a small pellet feeder loaded with micro pellets and meat hook bait
cast to the old lily pads in the middle of the lake, his first carp came on his very first cast
followed by 6 more during the match his biggest weighing 9lb for a total of 29lb 2oz.
2nd place went to Worksop's Andy Lakey he had 3 carp - 4lb on ledgered meat cast to the far bank

A couple of degree’s increase in the water temperature got the carp feeding like they will in the spring, Pete drawn at peg 24 had a carp on his first cast on ledgered corn cast to the spinner but it was 2 hours before he had another bite and that came on the pole and double corn fished at 11m he then caught steady till end of the match landing a total of 14 carp – 9lb weighing in 63lb 8oz. 2nd placed Mick alternated a small pellet feeder and meat cast to the island and pole and corn fished at 9m landing 12 carp – 7lb and a single roach for 53lb 9oz. In 3rd place Dave lost his first 6 carp on pellet feeder in a snag near the lily pads that could have put him in the top spot, he had a late run of carp on the pole and corn.

Weights were down on this very cold day but all the anglers fishing did catch. Dave Madin made it three wins out of four that he as fished, drawn at 41 he fished pole and pellet out at 13m catching carp – 4lb steady all match. In 2nd place, Ben alternated between a small g/bait feeder and corn cast to the spinner and pole and corn at 11m for a net of carp – 2lb

A slow start to the match after a white over frost but the lake soon recovered and further into the match the better it got. Dave started on the pellet feeder and corn cast to the old lily bed for just one carp after an hour he changed to the pole alternating between meat and corn over pellet he added 15 more carp – 8lb to his tally ending with a total of 78lb 15oz. 2nd placed Pete had 14 carp on the pole pellet and corn fished at 13m his biggest fish was 9lb making his total 67lb 11oz, 3rd place went to Mick Langton fishing the pole and meat in two swims for 26 carp – 9lb, and the 4th place and the 4th weight over 60lb went to Craig Brazier at peg 38 he fished pole and corn for 12 carp and a total of 62lb 14oz.

Dad and lad at the top of the list with dad Norman coming out top with a big margin, drawn at end peg 54 he fished pole and pellet down the margin, after a bite less 2 hours the carp moved into his swim and it was a fish nearly every put in landing carp – 11lb in his net of 83lb 9oz, Christian in 2nd place was into fish from the off on the pole and pellet landing 30lb of stockies – 12oz and 10 bigger carp – 6lb.
The lake fished very well for the 1st Sunday open match there was 14 weights over 30lb and 37lb 15oz was the lowest section winning weight

Making the most of the end peg draw Lee won his first match at the fishery with his biggest ever weight, fishing pole and pellet down the margin he had a few stocky carp before the big boys moved in, landing 25 carp – 10lb loosing his biggest fish at the net that would have took his weight over the ton but he was happy with his total of 90lb 3oz. 2nd place again went to Pete Hodgetts landing 14 carp on the pole and pellet and feeder and meat cast to the island late in the match to finish 20lb behind with exactly 73lb.

It looked like the wind was going to spoil the match but it turned out to be a very close match, Pete drawn at peg 26 fished pole and pellet close in at 5m feeding very little loose feed he caught 12 carp steady through out the match landing fish – 10lb and weighing in 67lb 7oz. 2nd placed Martin opted for the method feeder and corn cast to the little island at peg 41landing 19 carp – 6lb for a total of 62lb 10oz. In 3rd place Dave had 12 carp – 10lb on the pole and corn in the first half of the match and didn’t get a bite in the 2nd half.

It looked like the wind was going to be the winner today making presentation very difficult, but Pete Ellis landed a fantastic 91lb 5oz fishing the pole at 5m with soft 6mm pellet on the hook he fed a small cup of pellets every put in and landed 17 carp – 10lb steady through the match. 2nd placed Alan Warren alternated worm hook bait on the feeder cast to the old lily beds and the pole at 6m for 19 carp – 7lb. in 3rd place Pete had to wait till the last 2 hours before he had a bite then it was one every put in landing 12 carp – 11lb.

The first time peg 31 as produced the winning weight for a long time and it was first time open match win at the fishery for local angler Shane Wharton, fishing pole and pellet at the side of the submerged building he had 21 carp – 8lb steady throughout the match winning with 69lb 10oz, just holding off dad and lad pairing Christian and Norman Powers, Christian fished pole and pellet at 14m down the margin at peg one landing 25 carp – 6lb for 64lb 2oz, his dad fished his favourite way, the method feeder and pellet cast to the island having over 30 small carp – 5lb.

Over the last two days the lake as risen over 2 inch following the heavy thunderstorms putting cold water in the lake stopping the usual 3 figure match weights. At the top Wednesday and again today Dave Madin fished all match on the pole fished at 14m with a big worm on the hook over a bed of pellets he had 15 carp the biggest being 8lb winning what turned out to be a tight match with 52lb 15oz. 2nd place went to Craig Brazier drawn at 26 he fished a pellet method feeder cast to the lily pads with pellet hook bait he landed 17 carp – 5lb. A good days fishing all round, with Local angler Pete Hodgetts coming out at the top of the list, fishing the pole and meat out at 12m and down both margins he loose fed 4mm cubed meat little + often on all lines landing over 30 carp his biggest going just over 8lb finishing with 94lb 7oz. 2nd place went to Dave Madin at peg 24 he fished pole and corn again out and down the margins landing carp – 10lb finishing 8oz short of the winner with 93lb 15oz.

Another close match with no run away winner, nearly 76lb winning and 30lb only got 16th place. Overall winner was the fishery’s own Mick Langton drawn at peg 29 he fished the pole and pellet at 13m and meat down the margin catching steady all day he landed 25 carp – 6lb in his total of 75lb 14oz just beating Alan Warren into 2nd place by 14oz, fishing the pole and pellet on two lines at 6m he landed 19 carp – 8lb and loosing 9 others any of which would have gave him to lead.

It looked like it was going to be a close match until Pete pulled out his nets, weighing a massive 117lb 8oz of carp, he fished the pole and meat out at 14m from peg 24 catching steady all match but for a bite less last hour he had already won the match with landing over 20 carp – 9lb. The best of the rest Mick fished pole and pellet out at 11m for 35 fish from 8oz – 8lb just finishing in front of John Darby by 3lb he fished pole and corn for carp – 8lb.

The start of the Sunday open matches and you can guarantee a white over frost or a very cold night, it was only 6 degree’s at the draw for the match and only 10 degree’s in the water but everybody managed to catch something. Sheffield’s John Turton won the match at peg 33 fishing the pole and pellet long at 13m he landed 15 carp – 8lb catching the majority in the 2nd half. Alan Warren just edged Kristian Powers into 3rd place by a pound fishing the pole and meat sort on two lines at 5m landing 13 carp – 8lb. Kristian fished the method feeder with corn cast tight to the island also for carp – 8lb

In form Mansfield Angler Pete Hodgetts top the list for the 2nd week in a row, drawn at 32 he fished pellet wagler and 8mm pellet hook bait feeding just five 6mm pellets every cast to keep the carp feeding, he landed 25 all about 5lb each weighing a total of 96lb 7oz. Worksop’s Steve Skinner was 2nd from peg 19 fishing method feeder and meat cast to the island and late in the match on the pole also with meat landing carp – 7lb to finish 20lb short of the winner.

Martin was the only angler to catch any of the rare carp in this lake landing 5 – 4lb on the ground bait feeder and meat cast to the far bank with the rest of his catch made up of skimmers on the pole and pellet. 2nd place went to John Woodland he had one carp going 4lb and skimmers – 1lb all caught on the pole and pellet

Way out in front John said that there was that many fish in his swim he had a bite every put in, fishing the pole at 5 and 11m with pellet on the hook over micro pellet and hemp he landed over 60 carp the biggest going 6lb helping him to a total of 148lb 14oz. 2nd placed Phil Carline only had 20lb in his net up to the last hour, fishing the method feeder and pellet cast to the island, in the last our he landed 19 carp pushing him to 2nd with a level 88lb.
