After casting into the willow tree on the island with his roach rig Pete cast his ledgered corn to the old lily pad instantly the tip went round and a 7lb carp was in the net, followed by another one the next cast and with the 3lb of roach already in the net he weighed a total of 17lb 7 oz finishing 7lb in front of fishery bailiff John Wooff who had 3 small carp and roach on the pole and maggot.

Winter came back again over night with parts of the lake froze and most of the match was fished in blizzard conditions, top spot was Pete Ellis fishing the pole and corn at 12mhe was the only angler to land carp landing 8 – 7lb plus one roach.2nd placed Mick fished the pole and maggot for an all roach net with fish touching the 1lb mark

Again it was peg 41 that produced the winner this time it was Gateford Angling team man Andy Lakey taking the top spot, starting off on ledgered corn cast tight to the small island he had 4 carp – 4lb and then 22 roach – 1lb on the pole and maggot weighing in 24lb 4oz the only double figure catch of the day.

Despite delaying the start of the match by 30 minutes to brake the ice from the pegs the lake fished resemble well. Lee fished pole and double red maggot for an all out roach attack at peg 32 his first fish was a 7lb carp followed by 2 smaller ones and with a dozen roach – 12oz he weighed in a grand total of 24lb 8oz, 2nd placed Andy Lakey fished pole and maggot on two lines for an all roach net with some of his 32 fish going just above the pound mark in his total of 14lb 6oz.

Prospects looked good for the match but the water temp was still low at just over 3 degrees C. Mick drew peg 32 and fished pole and maggot for 12 roach – 1lb and later in the match changed to corn for 7 carp – 6lb being the only angler to make double figures and catch carp weighing in 33lb 2oz. 2nd placed Geoff fished pole and maggot for an all roach net and a total of 9lb 15oz

What a match this turned out to be not a carp in sight and the lowest weight was 5lb 8oz, but the top weight was 25lb 9oz of skimmers – 12oz all on the pole and pellet fished at 13m and 16m caught by Peg One Angling boss Lee Paying, feeding pellets at 13m and a 4mm pellet on the hook he caught all match following the fish out to 16m to keep in touch. 2nd went to Ian Boyd fishing the pole on two lines with caster and pellet he had a mixed net of roach and skimmers – 1lb in his total of 16lb 4oz

A warm spring day with the odd down pour and the lake moved into top gear, Richard Wood drew peg 40 and had to borrow a feeder rod to fish this peg in the normal manner, fishing a small pellet method feeder and corn cast to the far bank reeds he was into carp from the off, landing carp – 4lb steady all match finishing with a creditable 48lb. 2nd place in this very close match was John Holmes fishing the pole and pellet he had a mixed net of skimmers – 2lb and carp – 3lb along with a bonus 8lb mirror on corn late in the match from down the margin.

It was back to winter for today’s match with a gale force cold wind blowing down the match length, no run away winner and only 10lb separating the top 6 places, but it was Dad Norman at the top fishing the pole and bread pellet short at 7m over carp pellets landing just 7 carp – 9lb steady throughout the match edging his son Kristian into 2nd spot he fished the method feeder and corn cast to the old lily pads at peg 26 he had 17 carp – 5lb for a level 43lb.

The Method feeder is coming into its own at the moment with the pegs in the 20’s the place to draw, Brian Wood drew peg 26 fishing with a pellet method feeder with corn on the hook cast to the old lily pads he had 17 carp – 6lb to win his first match at the fishery. 2nd place went to regular framer Norman Powers he had 10 carp – 7lb 5 on the pellet method cast to the island and 5 on the pole and pellet fished long at 14m.

In 2nd place making the most of the end peg draw Dave Round fished pole and caster for 25lb of Ide and Tench with the rest of his catch made up of carp – 4lb, finishing nearly 10lb behind with 39lb 11oz. 3rd placed John Woodland fished the pole and caster on his top 3 kit and weighed 38lb 6oz of roach and ide – 12oz

John in 2nd cast his method feeder and meat to the old lily bed at peg 24 landing carp – 6lb but finishing short with 51lb 15oz. 3rd this week and 3rd last week from the same peg Mick Smith improved his weight, weighing in 49lb14oz

Pete drew peg 45 on the road side and with the wind blowing hard he fished the pole at 5m with pellet on the hook and feeding heavy with pellets he caught carp from the off landing fish – 6lb with the exception of one bonus fish weighing 12lb finishing just short of the ton with 95lb 8oz. 2nd placed Ian Rowney fished both the pellet method feeder cast to the submerged island and the pole with corn and pellet hook bait he also caught all match landing carp – 8lb.

Craig drew peg 21 on the corner of the big bay, fishing the pole on two lines out at 12m and down the margin both with luncheon meat over pellets he had 17 carp – 8lb weighing a total of 82lb 4oz he said after the match he would have weighed over the ton if he hadn’t wasted an hour and half bite less on the method feeder. 2nd and 3rd placed anglers both caught on the pole and paste with Roy weighing 67lb 4oz having 14 carp – 9lb and Rob weighing 66lb 7oz made up of 21 carp – 8lb

After an hard white over frost the sun came out and the lake was flat calm, hardly ideal conditions but Ian Rowney made the most of the end peg draw fishing pellet up in the water and worm down the margin he landed 16 carp – 8lb in his total of 57lb 5oz. Not far behind was Gateford Angling Supplies Mick Drage he had 7 carp – 7lb plus 15lb of roach and stockies all caught on the pole and pellet fished at 6m from peg 17.

Jason White drew peg 22 and fished a small pellet feeder with corn and pellet on the hook cast tight to the island after a slow first hour the carp turned up and he had a fish most casts out till the end of the match, his biggest fish going just 4lb in his 76lb 8oz haul. 2nd placed Pete Hodgetts fished the pole and meat up in the water and the waggler with meat also up in the water cast to the lily pads at peg 34 he landed 23 carp – 8lb for a total of 67lb 4oz.

One of the best matches at the fishery so far this year 70lb got you in the top six and over half the field weighed in over 50lb.
Finishing way out in front Alan Warren fished the pole and meat at 12m up in the water on the bore hole peg 31, catching from the off he had 70lb in the net in the first hour, he landed over 30 carp during the match his best being about 12lb weighing in the best catch from the lake this year a massive 157lb 7oz. 2nd place went to fishery regular Norman Powers casting a pellet method feeder and pellet on the hook to the aerator catching all match he landed 95lb 4oz of carp – 5lb.

Once again it was pegs 40 + 41 that were first and second and it was the same winner as last week Fred Bispham, he fished the pole and pellet down the margin for 14lb of skimmers then changed to popped up bread cast to the weed beds for 6 carp – 12lb, but they wasn’t the biggest 2nd place Alan landed a 15lb yellow ghostie on the pole and pellet along with bream – 3lb and small carp and tench it took his total catch – 46lb 14oz

Fishing the pole and paste out at 7m and later down the margin Andy caught steady all match landing an all carp net with his biggest fish being 9lb in his total of 88lb 11oz, close in second place Carl caught very well most of the match then watched his lead disappear as he struggled to catch in the last 90minutes fishing the pole and pellet long at 14m he landed 25 carp – 9lb for and finishing weight of 83lb 5oz.

A very hot flat calm day and the carp spawning was the makings of an hard days fishing. Drawn at peg 20 in the bay Dave fished a small method feeder and 8mm pellet on the hook cast tight to the reeds, catching best in the last half of the match he landed carp – 5lb finishing with 79lb 9oz. 2nd placed Neil Wilkinson fished the pole and paste short at 5m on peg 27 landing 18 carp – 9lb most of which were also caught in the last half of the match.

Just his 2nd visit to the fishery and Steve Barrowclough makes it to the top of the list, drawn on the bore hole peg 31 he fished the pole and meat long at 14m shallow landing 22 carp – 8lb for an impressive level 138lb. Also with over 100lb in the net his travelling partner Worksop’s Andy Lakey fishing the pole and paste out at peg 17 and late in the match he fished corn down the margin, he landed 30lb of stockies – 1lb and 18 carp – 7lb for a total of 108lb 1oz.
96 lb 9oz was needed for 3rd and 56lb just managed 10th place.

The very heavy rain didn’t stop the carp feeding returning 6 weights over 90lb, but at the top of the list with a level 125lb Mick Elliott drawn on peg 31 and fished pole and meat at 13 + 16m up in the water for an all carp net with fish going to 9lb. 2nd placed Ben Holmes drew peg 36 and fished the pellet feeder cast to the island and later down the margin both with pellet on the hook he landed carp – 8lb in his 113lb 9oz catch. 3rd place went to fishery regular Paul Brown drawn on his favourite peg 39 he fished the pole and paste down both margins for carp – 10lb also weighing in over 100lb with a creditable 104lb 5oz

In top spot was Lee Hassett drawn on the bore peg 31 he fished the pole at 14m up in the water with corn on the hook and feeding meat he was into carp from the off and landed over fish – 7lb recording a winning weight of 134lb 12oz.
