The official carp record is 19 lb 3oz Caught From Sherwood Lake,by Mick Lysaght ,but we know that bigger fish have been caught so if you do get a bigger one phone the bailiff for official weighing (the number is on your day ticket).
Our stock ponds were emptied this spring, we put Ide into the Sherwood lake and in
the Langdale, Chub in the Maunside, Carp in the Holmedale and Maunside.

A very cold start and sunny flat calm for the rest of the day, but on days like this peg 20 in the shallow bay is the place to be, Will Creswell drew it and fished the method feeder and maggot cast tight into the corner landing 10 carp – 7lb. In 2nd place beating of the rest with 39lb 11oz John Darby fished the pole and meat for carp – 6lb

The early pegs were the place to be on the final round of the Winter league, way out in front was Russ Brookes with a superb 30-06 net of mainly skimmers all taken on short pole and pellet at peg 2. In second place was Roy Butterfield who found some quality skimmers on maggot at 3 metres.
The overall final league standings went to the wire again with the ever consistent Wayne Haywood (Mansfield Angling) coming out a deserved winner taking the title by a single point from last years winner Ian Boyd (Woodhouse Angling Centre). Russ Brookes (Rivendell) finished with a flourish to claim 3rd place.

Dave fished the pole with caster on the deck and up in the water feeding very regular all match returning a fine 41lb 7oz of skimmers and Ide -1lb. 2nd placed Lee also fished the pole and caster for silvers but also having a bonus 11lb carp towards the end of the match

The coldest condition we have ever fished in gale force winds snow, sleet and rain temp down to zero and it felt like minus 20, but all the anglers left at the end of the match weighed in coming out top was Eastwood’s Andy David fishing the pellet feeder and pellet hookbait at peg 39 he landed 20 carp – 8lb easily winning the match with 48lb 8oz

Rob fished the pole and pellet out at 13m at peg 26 having a steady start he had a good last 90 minutes catching a carp – 7lb every put in till the end finishing with 75lb 3oz. Across the lake at peg 31 Carl watched his lead disappear fishing the pole and pellet shallow at 14m he landed carp to 5lb.

Lee had 9 carp on the pellet feeder and pellet cast to the weed beds for 29lb and nearly 21lb of skimmers on the pole and caster. 2nd placed Dave round caught skimmers and Ide – 1lb on the pole and caster fished out at 13m on the deck and up in the water.

A big white over frost then a cold easterly wind put the temperature down 2 degrees in the water making it a struggle for all the anglers. Coming out top was Worksop’s Stewart Grey drawn at peg 36 he alternated pellet hookbait on the pole fished at 11m and a small pellet feeder cast to the island for 10 carp – 8lb. 2nd placed Carl fished the pole and pellet having 18 carp – 5lb all in the middle two hours.

We all forgot about the draught today with none stop heavy rain all day, most of the fish were caught in the first half of the match before it dropped very cold. In top spot was Kristian Powers draw at peg 26 he fished the pole and meat at 12m landing carp – 8lb finishing just 3oz in front of Colin Spencer, he fished the pole and paste at 6m from peg 45.

Lee won his first match at the fishery from lucky peg 13 fishing the pole and red pellet on the hook over a bed of micro pellets landing 20 carp – 6lb in his net of 60-12-0, 2nd place went to regular framer Alan Warren drawn at 17 he fished the pole and 8mm soft pellet for a bigger stamp on carp landing 10 fish – 12lb finishing just short with 60lb 7oz.

None stop heavy rain all day didn’t dampen the anglers spirits with lots of carp caught from all round the lake, in top spot Carl Brown alternated between the pole and paste sort and pole and pellet long at 13m landing carp – 8lb steady all day finishing with 21 carp for 87lb 2oz. In second place Chesterfield’s Phil Carline fished the pole and paste sort at 6m landing carp – 6lb in his total of 69lb 15oz.
